Cake Board Size & Thickness Selection Guide
Size creates presentation and handling space. Thickness contributes to rigidity, but it is not a universal measure of strength.
Final performance must be confirmed against the approved product specification, sample and intended use condition.
Choose the finished diameter first
Begin with the cake footprint, then add the intended display border. Confirm whether the quoted size is the finished board dimension and whether shape tolerances matter.
Treat thickness as one variable
Two boards with the same thickness may bend differently because their cores, density, grain, lamination and edge construction differ. Ask for a sample or performance reference for critical applications.
Include the transport route
A board lifted once in a bakery faces a different risk from one moving through chilled storage, a delivery vehicle and a customer handoff.
