Foundation guide 03
Cake Board Load Capacity & Structural Strength
There is no responsible universal load number for every cake board. Performance depends on structure, span, moisture, support points and how the board is handled.
Final performance must be confirmed against the approved product specification, sample and intended use condition.
Rigidity is not only thickness
Core geometry, paper weight, density, lamination and finished diameter all influence bending. Larger spans generally require more structural support.
Test the real use condition
A useful test reproduces board size, cake footprint, load distribution, holding points, time, humidity and transport. A flat static load alone may not represent delivery risk.
Write an acceptance criterion
For important projects, agree on dimensional tolerance, visual defects, maximum deflection method, moisture exposure and packaging integrity before production.
