Cake Drum vs Cake Board vs MDF
These names are often used inconsistently. Compare the internal construction and intended use rather than relying only on the label.

Cake board or cake card
Usually a thinner paper-based support for lighter products or for use between tiers. Terminology varies by market.
Cake drum
Typically a thick, wrapped-edge paper construction designed to create a substantial presentation base with relatively low weight.
MDF cake board
A dense wood-fibre board with strong rigidity and a premium feel. Buyers should also confirm weight, edge finish, packing and destination-market documentation.
